Dr. Jaime Campos-Leon uses botulinum toxin treatments as part of the non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures offered at his practice.
What is Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum toxin type A, commonly known by the brand names Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin®, is a bacteria-derived substance. It helps to reduce the appearances of wrinkles and fine lines by preventing the contractions of the muscles that cause them.
What does the procedure look like?
The procedure involves the injection of botulinum toxin, into select muscles involved with facial expression. Dr. Campos-Leon targets the specific muscles that cause wrinkles while preserving the strength in the muscles that allow for normal facial expression. The injection process takes approximately 15 minutes.
Within a few days, most patients see a reduction in the appearance of expression-related imperfections such as brow furrows, frowns, smile lines, and neck bands.
The effect usually lasts three to four months. Wrinkles may return after the effects wear off, at which point the patient may choose to repeat the treatment.
