FAT GRAFTING: GLUTE ENHANCEMENT— BBL
Fat grafting is a body-shaping procedure where the fat removed during liposuction is transferred and sculpted into select parts of the body in order to create a fuller and more contoured figure. Before being grafted, the fat is filtered and purified, which prepares it for transfer. Fat can be grafted to the glutes, hips, or thighs.
What is a BBL?
One of the most popular procedures for fat grafting is the augmentation of the buttocks. Fat grafting in this area is popularly referred to as the Brazilian Butt Lift, or the BBL. This is a specialized fat transfer procedure that augments the size and shape of the buttocks without implants. Most commonly, the fat is removed from the abdomen, flanks, and lower back, and then injected into the buttocks and hips.
Candidates for this procedure will discuss the areas of the body they would like to remove the fat from with Dr. Campos-Leon, as well as where they would like to have the shape of the buttocks enhanced most. This procedure might not be best suited for patients who are very lean and have a low percentage of body fat.

What is recovery like?
We recommend that patients avoid sitting or lying directly on the buttocks for four weeks after the procedure. Typically, Dr. Campos-Leon will recommend a special cushion that patient can use for sitting, usually referred to as the Booty Pillow. Normal sitting activity is normally allowed after 8 weeks.
Patients usually wear tight garments around the gluteal area and avoid strenuous exercise or lifting for several weeks. This will keep the grafted fat from becoming unshaped and help it stay in place during the healing process. More aftercare instructions will be given by Dr. Campos-Leon after the surgery.
